Hello, world

2 min read

Welcome to my blog! I couldn’t start any other way than like those good old tutorials that always begin by asking us to write our first program: a “Hello, world” print, in every language. This is the first post on the new site, so it seems fair to explain what this place is and how it is put together.

What to expectLink to section: What to expect

Mostly notes on what I’m studying, in formal education and in books, and on what I’m building for the web: small decisions, trade-offs and the occasional deep dive.

My intent is to keep posts short, so I can gain traction and keep publishing regularly. But depending on how excited I get about a new subject, you may see longer posts with more findings.

How it is builtLink to section: How it is built

Every page is generated ahead of time by Astro (opens in a new tab) and served as static HTML. There is no client-side framework here, the only script is about one kilobyte, and it remembers which color theme you picked.

export function readingMinutes(markdown: string): number {
  return Math.max(1, Math.ceil(countWords(markdown) / WORDS_PER_MINUTE));
}

The tools site is different: each tool is an interactive island, but the page around it is still plain HTML that you can read before any JavaScript loads.

A note on privacyLink to section: A note on privacy

There are no analytics, trackers or third-party scripts on either site.

Thanks for reading.

P.S.: this structure and build are what I have for now. Who knows? In the future I may keep it simple, or add ads, and the cookies that come with them, as more projects gather on my blog.
